Bill provides features, race reports, and commentary on a regular basis for Autoweek and here's his 2006 NHRA Season Preview.

Bill was a member of the CBS Sports team that covered the 1998 Daytona 500, which Dale Earnhardt won for the first time.
CBS was nominated for a Sports Emmy for the telecast. 

Bill didn't know it at the time, but following Earnhardt's death at Daytona in 2001, Sports Illustrated published a special issue commemorating the NASCAR great. 

The photo of Earnhardt celebrating at Daytona's Victory Lane included Bill in the background, thoroughly spellbound by what he was witnessing.
